What leaves your phone, and what never does

Unicorn sits where you type, which is exactly why it should tell you plainly what it does with that. Here's the whole list.

Stays on your phone

  • The prompts you send to AI apps. If you turn on Remember my AI prompts, Unicorn saves what you send in the AI apps you choose, like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. They're stored on your phone only, never uploaded, and left out of phone backups.
  • Your words. The names and new words Unicorn learns for suggestions stay on your phone.
  • Recent messages for replies. If you let /reply read your notifications, the last few messages are kept in memory only, and they're gone when your phone restarts.

Sent only when you ask

  • Text you rewrite. When you tap a tone, ask Unicorn something or use a command like /email, that text goes to Unicorn's AI to write the answer. It isn't stored or logged.
  • Anonymous trends, if you turn on sharing. Once a day, Unicorn sends short summaries of that day's saved prompts: topics, brands, what kind of help you asked for, and short questions of 12 words or fewer. Names you use, numbers, links, emails, longer prompts and whole conversations are never included. Before you turn sharing on, you can see exactly what it would send from your own week.
  • Your neighborhood, if you turn it on. Your area's name and a rough location, accurate to about a mile, are used to pick hunches. They aren't stored with anything that identifies you.

A trend only appears in Near you once at least 25 different people share the same thing. Nobody can be singled out from it.

Never touched

  • Private fields. In passwords, PINs, one-time codes, card and account numbers, email address fields and fields an app marks as private, Unicorn steps back completely: no AI tools, no voice, no word learning and no saving.
  • Banking, payment and password apps. In apps like Chase, Venmo, PayPal, Cash App and password managers, the same goes for the whole app.
  • Your lock screen. While your phone is locked, Unicorn doesn't suggest your earlier questions or show the people you've been chatting with.

Locked to you

Turn on Lock Unicorn in the You tab, and the app asks for your fingerprint, face or your phone's screen lock every time it opens, or after a minute, five minutes or half an hour away. While the lock is on, Unicorn shows up blank in your recent apps on Android 13 and later.

No account needed

Everything in Unicorn works without signing up. Your Unicorn is tied to a random ID made on your phone, used only to keep the free AI fair for everyone. Delete the app and it's gone.
